Department Aims
To maintain and stimulate students' interest
and enjoyment in physical education and to promote health and fitness
for current and future lifestyles.
Below are some of the main aims we strive
hard to achieve, to enable students to:

Be familiar with a body of knowledge, principles
and vocabulary related to Physical Education (PE) and Sport
- See PE as a major feature of their lives related
to leisure, employment and culture
- Become involved in analysis
and evaluation of performance
- Understand and use safe practice and appreciate
its importance
- Understand the short and
long term effects of exercise on the body/role of exercise in a fit
and healthy lifestyle
Develop 'shared values' and a range of personal
qualities (politeness, perseverance, concern for others, initiative)

Experience personal success and enjoyment
- Work independently and as
part of a team;

Develop informed opinions and support
them by reasonable argument
Department Objectives
These objectives relate to the aims for
PE at Colyton and are intended to show how the aims are put into practice:
- Provision of a variety of
experiences/activities during a course of study and lessons themselves
- National Curriculum KS3 and KS4 requirements
form the basis for programmes of study
- Lessons conducted in a secure, supportive and
disciplined manner
- Students encouraged to share their experiences
with others
- Staff to illustrate the enjoyment and benefits
that PE and Sport has given to them
