SIXTH FORM SUBJECTS
AS and A2 LEVEL
PHYSICS: AS + A2 LEVEL [OCR B]
Course Aims
| Do you want to know more about the physical world
around you?
Do you know about the important questions that Scientists are asking
today?
A course in Advanced Level Physics is one more step towards
a better understanding.
Physics qualifications are highly regarded by both Higher Education
institutions and employers alike. Students obtain a qualification
that enables them to continue their studies at a higher level, both
in Physics and in a range of engineering and technological subjects,
including medicine.
Its reliance on logical thought and analytical skills make it a
good choice for students who want a course that will develop these
skills, as well as to provide the necessary understanding of the
physical world. |

Physics is not always serious
. . . |
This course consists of three units at AS and three units at A2. The
course offers support through dedicated texts and CD-ROMs sponsored by the
Institute of Physics.
AS Level Unit / Module Contents
- Physics in Action: Communication; Designer
Materials
- Understanding Processes and Experimentation and Data Handling:
Waves and Quanta; Space and Time
- Physics in Practice: Quality of measurement;
Physics in use
Assessment:
Assessment for AS is through two written papers and coursework; the latter
consisting of two elements – a measurement task and a presentation
