On Saturday 1st April, St Andrews Church in Colyton was busy with alumni, friends and music students from Colyton Grammar School. The event remembered the men who fought in WW1 and lost their lives, particularly 11 past students and staff from the school.
The programme was filled with string ensembles and solo pieces played by alumni. Including the moving Adagio by Albinoni. Head teacher, Tim Harris, read ‘the School at War 1914′ and read out the names of the 11 CGS boys.
Following the concert everyone enjoyed light refreshments and a display of information detailing the 11 CGS boys, in particular one from Colyton, Kenelm Zealley whose violin was on display, along with his pet dog’s collar. A poignant display.
