THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH'S AWARD
Gold Award Expedition The Expedition 'season' runs from April to the end of October. We provide training and supervision for all levels. Gold participants are expected to organise their own expedition but we offer support, guidance and supervision by arrangement. Gold expeditions must be 4 days and 3 nights in unfamiliar 'Wild' country - eg Dartmoor, Brecon Beacons, Exmoor - or further afield! The practice expedition can be 3 days and 2 nights, as long as it is in a different place than your Assessed Expedition. You have to complete 8 hours activity per day (excluding camping and cooking). For Gold, YOU are responsible for making all the arrangements and preparations, sorting out your group, dates and route, and completing the necessary (and important) notifications. We can help. Contact Meg Williams as soon as you are beginning to plan your expedition - megwilliams1@hotmail.co.uk, or come to the school drop-in session held every Friday lunchtime in the Meeting Room. You might want to look at the attached checklists which can help you to plan and prepare for your practice and final expeditions - and go to the Useful Resources section where all documents are available. |
